Independence-based MacroPoint acquired for $107 million by Canadian global logistics company

MacroPoint, a freight-tracking platform company based in Independence, has been acquired by Descartes Systems Group for $107 million, the company announced.
 
Yesterday, the Canadian public company announced it had acquired MacroPoint and this morning MacroPoint made its debut on the Inc. 5000 list, ranking No. 567. It is the fourth highest ranked company in the Cleveland area and 14th in Ohio.
 
With annual sales of about $12.5 million, MacroPoint has seen 793 percent sales growth. MacroPoint provides shippers, third-party logistics provides, carriers and brokers with real-time load status, and connects more than 8,000 transportation providers, brokers and shippers.
 
The company uses data to help transportation brokers, logistics service providers and shippers track the locations of deliveries in trucks. MacroPoint can also use content to provide transportation brokers and shippers with predictive freight capacity to help identify early opportunities for additional freight moves.
